MOVIE REVIEW: AGNEEPATH

Today I bring to you the review of a bollywood movie which claims that it will save the sinking ship that is bollywood. AGNEEPATH which was released on Republic Day is the remake of the 1990 classic of the same name. Does it live up to its old glory or does it fall short.? Find out below.

WHAT ITS ABOUT: The story revolves around Vijay(Hritik Roshan) who is a kid from a small island town Mandva. Much like the old movie, the villain Kancha China(Sanjay Dutt) kills Vilay's father which sends Vilay on a quest for revenge. Priyanka Chopra plays Kaali, the love interest. Rishi kapur plays Rauf lala, a drug lord. Throughout the movie, Vijay struggles with his various relationships all the while trying to get to Kancha China.

WHATS GOOD: First of all Arish Bhiwandiwala the kid who plays 12 year old Vijay has performed better than any other character. Unlike other movies where the childhood scene is short, here the child almost gets an hour of screen time. Om Puri is great as always in the role of the aged super-cop. Sanjay Dutt has Awesome presence on screen and looks Huge. At times the audience cheers when he shows up. Rishi Kapur who is known as the cute, cuddly little romantic hero plays a convincingly menacing and disgust-invoking villain.

WHATS BAD: Hritik Roshan doesnt do what he does best- Dance. His credibility as a street-smart, tough guy, action hero is zero. Even While fighting he looks like he is dancing. I understand that he has massive shoes(literally) to fill but he just doesnt look convincing. None of the dialogues are worth mentioning. Sanjay dutt's dialogues dont make sense at all. Priyanka Chopra is so Awful that I dont even remember a single thing she says except something about how she wants to dress up so much that every man in the world will flirt with her. People cheer when she gets hurt. The movie is too long and seems to drag on forever. People cheered for Chikni Chameli but I find Katrina Kaif's Vibrating down right Weird. Like any Karan Johar movie, it has a lot of unnecessary Rona-Dhona. It makes you sad instead of bringing joy.

VERDICT: This is a poor man's replacement to the original 'Agneepath'. Quite frankly Hritik Roshan cant shine Amitabh Bachchan's shoes let alone fill them. Its not entirely a bad movie but most of the time it will bore you like hell and if you do goto see this movie make sure you have a decent supply of food because you may starve..!

MOVIE REVIEW: GHOST (BOLLYWOOD)

First things First, let me explain why I saw this movie. I went to the theatre wanting to see Blitz(ek Kaatil in hindi) but the guy at the ticket counter told us that no one wanted to see Blitz and so the show was cancelled.

That left us with Ghost. It sounds like a cheap attempt at a horror movie. Let me tell you how it went -

WHAT ITS ABOUT:
The movie is about a series of murders which take place in a hospital. Sayali Bhagat plays a doctor(really?). Shiney Ahuja plays a rapis... I mean a detective who tries to solve the mystery of the murders. No other notable actors there. As with any Hindi film, the love story is central to the plot. As the story goes on the mystery is unravelled(which is just Shiney Ahuja getting part of his memory back) he discovers the murders are connected to his own life.

WHATS GOOD:-
There are some scenes that are pretty scary like the Chudail walking with feet turned backwards. Lot of gore, blood, guts etc. Almost reminded me of Evil Dead. Sayali Bhagat is easy on the eyes.

WHATS BAD:-

The acting first of all is average at best. Everyone has acted pretty badly. Being a Hindi film, it gives the message "Flirt and let everything else goto hell." In one scene when Shiney Ahuja is investigating Sayali Bhagat, Sayali says "wo sab baad me, pehle coffee peete hai". Shiney Ahuja does absolutely nothing befitting a detective. The case just solves itself. The worst thing about this movie is its confusing plot. There is this one guy running around who is half Jesus and half Satan. I dont know what the hell he was doing in the movie and what they were trying to say with the movie. Definitely not a family movie. The music is horrible even by bollywood standards and dances even more so.

MY VERDICT: If want some scares, a lot of confusion and want to cry for the rest of your life for the money you spent on this movie then watch it.

EXPENDABLES 2 TRAILER

Here is the trailer for Sylvester Stallone's action packed Expendables 2. The last installment of expendables was billed as being the Manliest movie ever made.

The Main selling point of The Expendables is that it has the biggest ensemble of Action 'heroes' ever. In the second movie an even bigger cast is assembled.

Expendables 2 stars Dolph lundgren, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Jason Statham, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins, Arnold Schwarzenegger add Liam Hemsworth. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was rumoured to be in the cast as well but apparently that does not seem to be the case. Check out the trailer below:

FIRST G.I. JOE 2 TRAILER STARRING THE ROCK

The first trailer of G.I. Joe 2 Retaliation is out and it looks promising to say the least. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson stars as Roadblock.

The movie is directed by John Chu(Step up, Never say never[Justin Bieber]). By the trailer its clear that this one has some breath-taking stunts and cutting edge technology. Add to that the Larger than Life persona of WWE superstar the Rock and you have one blockbuster of a movie.

The film also stars Bruce Willis(Die Hard) and Channing Tatum(Step up 1). Without further ado, I give you the trailer..

MEN IN BLACK 3D TRAILER RELEASED

After years of being God
knows where and doing God
knows what, Will Smith
makes
his much awaited return to
the Big screen with Men In Black
3. The movie stars the usual
Will
Smith and Tommy Lee Jones
as J and K. Unlike the
previous two movies this one will be
in
3d. Another novelty in the
movie
is Time travel. J goes back to
1969 to meet a young K played
by Josh Brolin. Its been
almost
10 years since Men In Black 2
so
this one has a lot to live up to. You can check out the
trailer
below.

FIRST TRAILER OF THE AVENGERS RELEASED BY MARVEL

Marvel has finally released the official trailer for the Avengers. The movie unites several superheroes like The Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawk-eye, Thor and S.H.I.E.L.D head Nick fury.

The movies stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johanson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce banner/The Hulk) and Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury). With such a huge starcast its apparently one of the most anticipated movies of 2012.

After the movies like Iron man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America we saw teases of what to expect in the Avengers. The trailer uses the song "We're in this Together" by Nine Inch Nails which cannot be more appropriate. The villain seems to be Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki the God of Mischief and Thor's brother.

I personally cant wait for this movie. Check out the trailer below.

IMMORTALS: MOVIE REVIEW

Outspoken Reviews is back after a long break and this time with my first review of a Hollywood movie. Check it out.

WHAT ITS ABOUT:
Immortals is about greek mythological legends. Immortal here has many meanings. One of the meanings is being immortal in legends by sacrificing yourself for the greater good. The other meaning is the Gods shown in the movie who are Immortal. So Theseus(Henry Cavill) is a mere mortal who works as a labourer and is the son of a raped woman so he has no father. Zeus(Luke Evans) comes to advise Theseus often in disguise of an old man.

Freida Pinto plays the virgin Phaedra who has the ability to see the future.
The movie is about the long forgotten battle between the Gods and Titans. Mickey Rourke plays the evil king Hyperion who wants to awaken the Titans.

WHATS GOOD:
Mickey Rourke does a good job as always and looks pretty scary and "hateable". The movie is in 3d and some of the effects are mind-blowing. The last battle between the Gods and Titans is Great. It has some great 3d effects and action sequences.

It also gives a nice moral that God does not help you do everything. There are some things you have to do yourself. Frieda Pinto looks pretty good and does a good job in her short role. I guess the innocence in her face was perfect for the virgin role. Thats about it.

WHATS BAD:-
The movie just does not pick up until the end. Sometimes it just feels downright boring. Some of the scenes are pretty violent and there is also an explicit love-making scene. So its definitely not a family film. For me the only thing exciting was the battle between the Gods and Titans. The protagonist seems boring and weak. The Gods do a lot of the work for him.

VERDICT:
This is a fun little watch if youre into action movies but only the end will please you. I leave you with this question If the God of the seas dies, what happens to the seas..??
