MOVIE REVIEW: BARFI

Here is the review of a movie that promises something 'Hatke' in the
Movie Cloning zone called you know what.. Does it successfully set
itself apart from the other Love Drenched sob-stories ? Find out
below..

WHAT ITS ABOUT:-
Barfi(Ranbir Kapoor) plays what any other Hindi film actor has ever
played, yup you guessed it, a Roadside Romeo. But this time he is Deaf
and Mute. Barfi falls in love with a tourist named Shruti(Ileana
D'cruz). The story is set in the 70s but the time period fluctuates
from past to present and vice-versa. Priyanka Chopra plays an autistic
girl Jhilmil, who is also Barfi's childhood friend. Set in beautiful
Darjeeling and Kolkata, the movie appears to be a visual treat.
Despite of Barfi and Shruti's deep love for eachother, Shruti is a
girl who always seems to miss the boat, or in this case the train.!
Shruti is torn between leading a normal life with a normal guy or
going with the impaired Barfi.

Due to his naughty antics, Barfi usually lands himself in trouble with
the authorities and his troubles are doubled(sorry about that) when he
is accused of kidnapping Jhilmil for ransom.

WHATS GOOD: As I wrote above, the movie is a visual treat. The beauty
of Darjeeling is accentuated greatly. Bollywood always has had that
part down. Ranbir Kapoor is Excellent here, being speech impaired
doesnt stop him from flirting at all.! You wont know that he didnt
speak at all in the movie because of the way he has expressed himself
is just beyond what I have ever seen.! Ranbir has always been a very
talented dude, but I would like to see him in a different genre.

Ileana D'cruz looks to be desperately trying to prove that she is more
than just a pretty face, she succeeds. She effectively plays the
playful heartbreaker, the dedicated Indian wife and the wise old
woman.

A few scenes are hilarious, especially the ones with Ranbir Kapoor and
Saurabh Shukla who plays the fumbling cop. Ashish Vidyarthi is decent
as always.

WHATS BAD:
Priyanka Chopra's character is supposed to be autistic but she plays
it like she is retarded.! Priyanka is a great character actress
judging by what we saw in 'Whats Your Raashi' but here she just doesnt
pull it off. She does however manage to do something I never thought
she could do, i.e. look unattractive. One thing I'd like to point out
is that the main symptom of Autism is that they have trouble building
any kind of relationships, much less flirt. We saw the same thing in
'My name is Khan'.! Why does Bollywood love to spit in the face of
logic.?

Going into this movie you might expect a comedy, youre wrong. In fact
its the exact opposite, a Tragedy.! It also has Bollywood's trademark
'Death of the Parents'. Spoiler: Barfi's parents are not the only ones
that die. Pritam is at his plagiarising best and with songs like "Iss
Dil ka kya karu", music is just more of the same. In the end, the
movie just drags and makes you want to leave the theater before it
ends.

VERDICT: Barfi is a movie that is sometimes funny but mostly tragic.
While I recommend watching it for Ranbir Kapoor's flawless
performance, too many deaths in the movie will just leave a bad taste
in your mouth.

MOVIE REVIEW: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

The End of an Era is upon us. Has Christopher Nolan given a fitting
conclusion to this Epic Trilogy..? Find out below...

WHAT ITS ABOUT: In the DC universe, its been 8 years since the events
of The Dark Knight. Its peace time in Gotham city or so it seems.
Bane, a former member of the League of Shadows shows up to achieve the
same goals Ra's Al Ghul tried to achieve, the destruction of Gotham.
He calls himself Gotham's reckoning and wears a mask that supply him
with pain-killers to numb the immense pain that runs through his body.

On the other hand Bruce Wayne(Christian Bale) has shut himself off
from the world due to severe injuries that he has suffered during his
Escapades as Batman. He calls himself "Retired" but eventually he will
have to don the Dark Knight garb again.! Plus there is a new Superhero in
town, Anne Hathaway enters the fray as Catwoman.! Will our favorite
Caped Crusader be able save Gotham in time or will the Maniacal
Monster Bane prevail ? Im not spoiling that, you have to watch the movie
to find out.

WHAT'S GOOD: There is only One way Chris Nolan does it...Grand..! The
story is Brilliant and Riveting. Every moment makes you wonder what
will happen next. There are no slow or boring moments. The action just
keeps on coming. Dialogues are exceptional. You get goose-bumps when
Anne Hathaway(Selina Kyle/Catwoman) says "There's a Storm Coming, Mr.
Wayne" and your heart misses a beat when Tom Hardy(Bane) says "When
Gotham is in Ashes, you have my Permission to Die". Speaking of Tom
Hardy, I must say he is the Highlight of TDKR. With slow, Articulate
dialogue delivery, intimidating Body language and Immense screen
presence, Bane is one Scary dude.! All these qualities make him the
perfect villain.

Christian Bale(Bruce Wayne/Batman) gives his Best
performance to date. Anne Hathaway is 'decent' as the Sly Seductress.
Liam Neeson makes an appearance and is as cool as ever. There is never
a dull moment in the movie. I have to applaud Hans Zimmer for the
Amazing soundtrack for TDKR. It plays throughout the movies and suits
the slick storyline. As for the popular debate of Avengers Vs. Dark
Knight, I'd say TDKR has the edge. I'd like to think that the success of TDKR was marred by the very unfortunate Colorado Shooting.

WHATS BAD: Honestly, I couldnt find anything bad about this movie.

VERDICT: TDKR is a Phenomenal conclusion to Chris Nolan's Epic Batman
Saga. Thank you Mr. Nolan for reminding us why we love Superheroes.
The Legend Ends, An Era Ends..!

FIRST LOOK OF IRRFAN KHAN IN THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN

Yes, we have heard about it for a long time but now we finally get to
see our own Irrfan Khan in one of the biggest movie franchises in the
world.! Previously we saw the much hyped appearance of Anil Kapoor in
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. The similarity between both the
stars being that they were both shot to international fame with the
Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire.

Unfortunately if you blinked during Mission Impossible: Ghost
Protocol, you missed Anil Kapoor.! I had my doubts that Khan's
performance would resemble Kapoor's but after watching the 4-Minute
Super Preview of the Amazing Spiderman, that does not seem to be the
case.

Irrfan Khan looks to be a major player in Marc Webb's much talked
about reboot. He plays Doctor Rajit Ratha but his role is still not
known.

The movie stars Andrew Garfield(The Social Network) as Peter
Parker/Spiderman, Emma Stone(The Rocker, The Help) as Gwen Stacy his
highschool sweetheart, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard,
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Dennis Leary as Captain Stacy.

For The first time the movie will focus on Peter's parents who have
remained a mystery throughout the movie's history. Peter finds clues
about his parents which leads him to Dr. Connors. Peter must save the city
from a Biological disaster, defeat the 9 foot Lizard and maintain his
relationship with his girlfriend, Uncle-Aunt and escape from the 500
police officers sent to capture him.

With such a great cast and the already established franchise that is
Spiderman the movie is surely going to be a Blockbusting success. It
swings into theatres July 4th. Check out Irrfan Khan in the super
preview below..

FIRST LOOK OF AMITABH BACHCHAN IN HIS FIRST HOLLYWOOD MOVIE-THE GREAT GATSBY

In India, Amitabh Bachchan considered to be no less than a God. He is
an Actor, Producer, Singer, Television game show Host and
Philanthropist. Bachchan has been working in the Indian Film industry
for more than 4 decades. He is known as the Greatest actor on Earth
but never has he been seen in a foreign large-scale film, Until now...

The trailer for Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" was released
yesterday it shows among others Amitabh Bachchan's Hollywood Avatar.
The movie is based on the Novel of the same name.
The novel "The Great Gatsby" was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in
1923. It describes the year of 1922.

Onto the movie now, Nick Carraway(Tobey Maguire) is a bonds salesman
who is also a Yale graduate and has just returned after serving in the
First World War. He comes to live in Long Island where he meets James
Gatsby(Leonardo dicaprio). Gatsby is a wealthy businessman who is
known for throwing Lavish parties for distinguished guests. Daisy
Buchanan(Carey Mulligan) is the cousin of Nick and wife of Tom
Buchanan(Joel Edgerton). Myrtle Wilson(Isla Fisher) is the Mistress of
Tom Buchanan. Additionally, the Beautiful Gemma Ward also makes an
appearance.

Amitabh Bachchan plays Meyer Wolfsheim a Wealthy guest of Gatsby's who
is known for fixing the 1919 World Series Baseball Championship.

Its no surprise that a talented actor like Bachchan has broken into
the International scene before the so called Kings of Bollywood, The 3
Khans who solely rely on their ability to flirt rather than Act to
Make the movie a Success. We are proud of Big B who will be playing
with the Big boys now. Check out the trailer below.

MOVIE REVIEW: AVENGERS (2012)

We've been waiting for this for years now and its finally here,
setting records around the globe. The Avengers assembled in theatres
on April 27. Does it live up to its expectations or does it exceed
them..? Find out below....

WHAT ITS ABOUT:-
The movie is about Loki(Tom Hiddleston) The God of Mischief getting
his hands on the Tesseract which is an unlimited source of energy and
trying to do what any other good super-villain aspires to do, take
over the world.

Loki also deals with Thanos an alien army chief of sorts and hires his
army to wreak havoc on the earth. Soon he finds out that he picked the
wrong planet to mess with. S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury(Samuel
"Goddamn" Jackson) tries to assemble a team of remarkable people
consisting of Iron Man/Tony Stark(Robert Downey Jr.), Thor(Chris
Hemsworth), Bruce Banner/Hulk(Mark Ruffalo), Captain America(Chris
Evans), Black Widow(Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye(Jeremy Renner). As
their egos collide and personalities clash, they act like a
dysfunctional family. Will they learn to work together or will they
just act like a time bomb that Mark Ruffalo describes them as ?

WHATS GOOD:-
(deep breath) Something I really liked about this movie is that every
character is given equal time and importance. Most of these characters
have had their own movies and have been properly introduced to the
audience. Each Character is distinct and seeing them clash is a treat.

You will enjoy seeing them fight with each other, almost as much as
youll enjoy seeing them fight the bad guys. They have tried to
establish Captain America as the leader but Tony Stark is the man who
runs the show. He is the most entertaining character, verbally
whipping everyone in his path while staying lovable and relatable. The
dialogues are smart and well written. When Nick Fury says "We are
officially at War" you know some serious shit is going to go down.

Everyone has acted superbly even Mark Ruffalo about whom I had
reservations. You can see a lot of his face in the Hulk. Chris Evans
also plays his part well as the clueless Super-Soldier. Chris
Hemsworth has also fit quite comfortably in his Thunder-God shell. You
will laugh your pants during the Superhero banter. A scene between
Loki and Hulk will have you in spilts. The story is well written and
executed. It is a steady continuation of the events that occurred in
the previous Marvel movies and ties all loose ends.

The 3D graphics are top notch and will have you on the edge of your
seats. When Hawkeye shoots an arrow you could swear its going through
your head.! The action is as slick as the dialogues.

WHATS BAD:- I dont mean to disrespect the movie by adding this section
but theres one thing I didnt like. That little chink in the armour is
the treatment of Captain America. I mean, everyone is given their
chance to shine even a useless character like Hawkeye while Captain
America does nothing but banter with Tony Stark and find a new love
interest.

VERDICT: Avengers is a fun filled action movie which you DONT want to
miss. Watch it for Captain America's No-Nonsense ass whuppin Grit,
Watch it for Tony Stark's Almighty Manic Mouth and Stainless Heroics,
Watch it for Thor's Lovely Golden locks and Badass Hammer, Watch it
for Samuel Jackson's cool eye-patch and constant swearing and finally
watch it for Hulk's well, SMASHING..!!

MOVIE REVIEW: JOHN CARTER

Welcome to an all new edition of Outspoken Reviews. I bring to you the review of the new Science-fiction, Action-Adventure John Carter 3D.

WHAT ITS ABOUT:- The story of the movie is based on the 'Barsoom' series of novels by Sir Edgar Rice burroughs. these novels were published in 1912 to 1943. So this movie shows the first glimpses of aliens through the eyes of human imagination. The story follows John Carter(Taylor Kitsch), a former soldier who is transported to Mars. There he meets barbaric green creatures who want to imprison him. He also finds creatures that bear a striking resemblance to humans. He realises that he has some hidden talents which only humans possesss on planet Mars. Two clans fight for survival as water on the planet is scarce. The Princess(Lynn Collins) of one of the clans is being forced to marry the barbaric leader of the other clan in order signify the submission of their clan and to end the war. And how can any red blooded Earthling hero resist saving the Damsel in distress ??

WHATS GOOD:- The action is well co-ordinated. The storyline is captivating and entertaining. The movie does not drag even through emotional scenes. Taylor kitsch has performed very well and is quite believable as a hero. The Best thing about this movie is its Climax. The end is very logical and makes audience go(and I quote) "OOOOOHHHH..!".

WHATS BAD:-First of all the movie has to fight the Stigma of being just another Humans Vs. Aliens movie. It was successful in doing that in my view but many others may not think so. The aliens are Green and lanky which means they are just the same old type of aliens that we have seen a million times. But we have to keep in mind that this is the 1912 perception of aliens which might be the first perception of the creatures. The 3d effects are good but not Mind-Blowing.

VERDICT:- John Carter is an Action-Adventure film and it definitely delivers the Adventure. Watch it.!

MOVIE REVIEW: GHOST RIDER 2: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE

Johnny Blaze is back with a skull that is even more fiery and he's out
for vengeance this time. Will it set the audience's hearts on fire or
will we feel like we're looking into the eyes of the rider himself.?
Scroll down to find out...

WHAT ITS ABOUT: Johnny blaze is a stuntman who made a deal with the
devil to save his father and become the devil's favorite demon in
return. The story follows Johnny who lives in exile to save the people
he loves from The Ghost Rider. A Priest who is also a drunkard
promises Johnny that he will get rid of the Rider if Johnny helps him
save a child. Meanwhile the Devil is also roaming the earth in human
form and is after the same child. A game of Hot Potato with the child
ensues.

WHATS GOOD: Now we all know girls are drawn to evil like opposite
poles of a magnet, except theyre not so opposite. From wife-beaters
like Rahul Mahajan to Lady Killers like Charles Sobhraj, villains are
never short of women. But Ghost Rider 2 takes this theory to another
extreme, the lead actress actually bears the child of the Freakin
Devil himself..!! I put this in the Pros of the movie because its a
nice little jab at this sad Fact. Some of the dialogues are funny.
Thats all.

WHATS BAD: For a 3d movie and a big one at that, the graphics were
below par. Little to no 3d effects means its not exactly a visual
treat. Nicholas Cage is just whacky and doesnt do anything to make us
watch him do anything. The running time of the movie is just 1 hour 35
mins and there is no Intermission. Atleast not in the theatre I was
in. Numerous Attempts are made to make the Ghost Rider look cool but
it just gets old after a while.

VERDICT: This is not a boring movie but at the same time its nothing
special. When your options are movies like Ek deewana tha and question
mark, this will seem like The Titanic or Sholay.!

MOVIE REVIEW: Gali Gali Chor Hai

Yes, I went to see this movie. It was either this or Ek main aur... And as usual I was one of only 10 people in the theatre. As I sat there with lowered expectations this is what I experienced...

WHAT ITS ABOUT:-
Gali Gali Chor Hai is about the current plight of India. The corrupt system being run by corrupt cops and politicians is highlighted throughout the film. So The aptly named Bharat(Akshaye"look at my hair now" Khanna) is a common man trying to go through life with his wife Nisha(Shriya Saran) and father (Satish Kaushik). Suddenly he is caught is a wave of troubles that just dont seem to end. A love story is thrown in just to please the mindless flirt-fans. So Bharat tries to deal with the leeches which suck him dry all the while trying to keep his married life intact.

WHATS GOOD:-
The title song sung by Kailash Kher is a pretty good, meaningful song. Akshaye Khanna's performance is great. Satish Kaushik is Awesome as always. Annu Kapur plays a constable and he has also performed decently. Shriya saran plays the conservative indian wife very well and Mugdha Godse's performance as the hot college girl is pretty good. Pretty much everyone has done a great job. Lot of scenes will make you laugh. It does a great job of showing that in India Cops are more feared than Criminals.

WHATS BAD:-
The item number with Veena Malik is awful and completly unnecessary. The ending just leaves a lot to be desired. If only they wud have tied up those loose ends, this movie would be one of the best movies in hindi film's recent history.

VERDICT: This is definitely a good movie and will entertain you. If you liked the classic laughter riot series 'Office Office' then you will like this movie too. It will make you laugh and move you but you may not like the ending. Watch it..!!

NEW AMAZING SPIDERMAN TRAILER

Everybody's favorite Web-Slinging Superhero is back.! After 5 years of waiting, we finally get a Spiderman movie.

This one is a reboot of the original Spiderman movies. To a lot of fans chagrin the old cast is completely replaced, even the Director.!

The Amazing Spiderman stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spiderman, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard and (I cant believe Im saying this) Our own IRRFAN KHAN as Dr. Ratha/Goblin.

This movie is being promoted as "The Untold Story" because it focuses on the disappearance of Peter Parker's parents and not his Uncle's death as in the other movies. Peter is a loner in highschool who has a crush on Gwen Stacy and is struggling with life without parents. He finally finds some clues which lead him to Dr. Connors(Efans). It turns out that Connors was the partner of Peter's father and knows the answers Peter seeks. One thing that I noticed was that the Spiderman character played in this movie seems more similar to the original character in the comic books. The original character was a wise cracking genius. Those one-liners were missing in the character portrayed by Tobey Macguire.

The Trailer has the Most Stunning visuals Ive ever seen. Check it out below.

MOVIE REVIEW: AGNEEPATH

Today I bring to you the review of a bollywood movie which claims that it will save the sinking ship that is bollywood. AGNEEPATH which was released on Republic Day is the remake of the 1990 classic of the same name. Does it live up to its old glory or does it fall short.? Find out below.

WHAT ITS ABOUT: The story revolves around Vijay(Hritik Roshan) who is a kid from a small island town Mandva. Much like the old movie, the villain Kancha China(Sanjay Dutt) kills Vilay's father which sends Vilay on a quest for revenge. Priyanka Chopra plays Kaali, the love interest. Rishi kapur plays Rauf lala, a drug lord. Throughout the movie, Vijay struggles with his various relationships all the while trying to get to Kancha China.

WHATS GOOD: First of all Arish Bhiwandiwala the kid who plays 12 year old Vijay has performed better than any other character. Unlike other movies where the childhood scene is short, here the child almost gets an hour of screen time. Om Puri is great as always in the role of the aged super-cop. Sanjay Dutt has Awesome presence on screen and looks Huge. At times the audience cheers when he shows up. Rishi Kapur who is known as the cute, cuddly little romantic hero plays a convincingly menacing and disgust-invoking villain.

WHATS BAD: Hritik Roshan doesnt do what he does best- Dance. His credibility as a street-smart, tough guy, action hero is zero. Even While fighting he looks like he is dancing. I understand that he has massive shoes(literally) to fill but he just doesnt look convincing. None of the dialogues are worth mentioning. Sanjay dutt's dialogues dont make sense at all. Priyanka Chopra is so Awful that I dont even remember a single thing she says except something about how she wants to dress up so much that every man in the world will flirt with her. People cheer when she gets hurt. The movie is too long and seems to drag on forever. People cheered for Chikni Chameli but I find Katrina Kaif's Vibrating down right Weird. Like any Karan Johar movie, it has a lot of unnecessary Rona-Dhona. It makes you sad instead of bringing joy.

VERDICT: This is a poor man's replacement to the original 'Agneepath'. Quite frankly Hritik Roshan cant shine Amitabh Bachchan's shoes let alone fill them. Its not entirely a bad movie but most of the time it will bore you like hell and if you do goto see this movie make sure you have a decent supply of food because you may starve..!

MOVIE REVIEW: GHOST (BOLLYWOOD)

First things First, let me explain why I saw this movie. I went to the theatre wanting to see Blitz(ek Kaatil in hindi) but the guy at the ticket counter told us that no one wanted to see Blitz and so the show was cancelled.

That left us with Ghost. It sounds like a cheap attempt at a horror movie. Let me tell you how it went -

WHAT ITS ABOUT:
The movie is about a series of murders which take place in a hospital. Sayali Bhagat plays a doctor(really?). Shiney Ahuja plays a rapis... I mean a detective who tries to solve the mystery of the murders. No other notable actors there. As with any Hindi film, the love story is central to the plot. As the story goes on the mystery is unravelled(which is just Shiney Ahuja getting part of his memory back) he discovers the murders are connected to his own life.

WHATS GOOD:-
There are some scenes that are pretty scary like the Chudail walking with feet turned backwards. Lot of gore, blood, guts etc. Almost reminded me of Evil Dead. Sayali Bhagat is easy on the eyes.

WHATS BAD:-

The acting first of all is average at best. Everyone has acted pretty badly. Being a Hindi film, it gives the message "Flirt and let everything else goto hell." In one scene when Shiney Ahuja is investigating Sayali Bhagat, Sayali says "wo sab baad me, pehle coffee peete hai". Shiney Ahuja does absolutely nothing befitting a detective. The case just solves itself. The worst thing about this movie is its confusing plot. There is this one guy running around who is half Jesus and half Satan. I dont know what the hell he was doing in the movie and what they were trying to say with the movie. Definitely not a family movie. The music is horrible even by bollywood standards and dances even more so.

MY VERDICT: If want some scares, a lot of confusion and want to cry for the rest of your life for the money you spent on this movie then watch it.
