SPEEDY SINGHS REVIEW

Hello all... Break ke baad aapka Swagat hai. This is the third Outspoken Review Im posting after being busy for a while. After youre done laughing, read the review..:-)

WHAT ITS ABOUT:
Rajveer (Vinay Virmani) is a punjabi-canadian boy who leaves college to pursue ice Hockey. Anupam kher plays his father who wants him to stop "wasting his time" with hockey and take part in the family business of truck-driving.
Rajveer wants to win a local hockey competition against some canadians. He organises a team of players who consist of neighbouring Punjabi boys and guess what he names the team ?
Director Robert Lieberman seems to like hockey a lot because he has already made a great disney hockey movie 'The Mighty Ducks'. Camilla Belle plays the love interest. The movie revolves around his relationship with his father, girlfriend and his hockey career.

WHATS GOOD:
The Humor of the movie is the first thing that struck me. Its pretty funny and your are guaranteed to LOLL(Laugh Out Loud Literally). Akshay Kumar makes a nice appearance and thankfully we dont see his do his stupid antics.
Russell peters who plays Rajveer's brother in law is pretty funny. Gurmeet Singh Guggi is pretty believable as a businessman. You might remember him from 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge'.
The music is pretty good especially the song "Shera di kaum punjabi". Its stuck in my head.!
Anupam Kher is Awesome as the "Disapproving Dad". No matter how many times I see him in that role I dont think Ill get bored.
The conflict between Father-Son seems very realistic and emotional.

WHATS BAD:
The movie tries to be a lot of things A family movie, a sports movie and a love story but falls short of everything.
The sports part is only nominal and only the final game is shown. The love story is unengaging and is kept there just to keep the bollywood fans happy. The movie seem too short for people who want a "Paisa Wasool" movie.

VERDICT:-
Speedy Singhs is a decent movie which will make you laugh and has a feel good effect to it. It has the Crispness of a Hollywood movie. Its a Great movie if your options are movies like "Mausam", "you are my jaan" and any other love crap that bollywood cooks up. Go Watch it.!

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (scathing) Movie Review

Here I am with my third blog about a movie I saw yesterday. Lets get right down to it..

WHAT ITS ABOUT:-
Do I really need to explain this ? Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Bhabhi in short is what the title suggests its about a guy who falls in love with his bro's bride to be. You expect that coz youre going to watch a hindi movie, of-course Anybody can(and will) fall in love with Anybody. If guy can love an alien(Jaane kahan se ayi hai), if an autistic man can fall in love with a woman(My Name is khan) and if a male robot can fall in love with a real woman(Robot) then its only "logical" for a guy to love and marry his sister in law. So kush(imran khan) tries to set up the marriage of Luv(Ali zafar) and Dimple(Katrina kaif) setting up his own marriage with Dimple all the while.

WHATS GOOD:-
To be honest, I really cant think of anything good about this movie but I can tell you that 90% of the people in the audience were only there to see Katrina kaif "Drink a bidi". Yes, thats the type of audience it attracts.

WHAT'S BAD:-
EVERYTHING. Same story as any other hindi movie ever made. Boys meets girl, they flirt for the rest of the movie, say I love you and get married in the end. This movie has two of these brilliant love stories so two times the fun...!!(sarcasm) Anyway the story has more holes in it than a machardaani. It a hindi movie so it defies all logic and reason. The lead characters have acted Horribly especially Ali zafar. Ali, youre a singer, bro. Stick what you do best. NONE of the scenes are funny. People in this movie dont speak, they SHOUT. It gets very annoying and you cant even sleep in the theatre because of the noise. Not to mention There is obnoxious dhol sound everywhere in the movie.

VERDICT:-
I would definitely go to see this movie...........if youre retarded. Or if youre one of those people who wants to see Katrina "drink a bidi".

Disclaimer: I did not go to see this movie by myself, I was forcibly taken but I did not pay a single paisa for it.

Movie review : Bol

Hello everyone.. Im back with my second blog. This is a movie review. Never thought I'd review a Hindi movie but its more Urdu than Hindi. Anyway, lets get right down to it.

What Its About :

Its set in Pakistan where girls are not allowed out of the house or show bare skin not even their father. Atif aslam is the boy next door who goes against these norms and is the only known face in the movie. The Hakim sahab in the movie is father of 14 girls who is still hungry for a son. They can barely manage two meals a day because he is the only breadwinner. As time goes by one of the girls protests and we are taken on a weird journey of lies, deception n desperate actions.

The Good:

It does a nice job of sending a moral message to people that If you cant feed them why do you give birth to them.? This is a serious question. Not only does it apply to Pakistan but it also applies to the Son hungry parents of India. There are some strong dialogues, especially by the female lead. Everyone's acting is praiseworthy. Atif aslam stays in his limits and only attempts nice little dialogues. Im glad hes not tryin to become the next Himesh Reshamiya(ugh). Storyline is mostly exciting. It is unlike any other hindi movie Ive seen.

The Bad:

It somehow gives the message that all men are brutes. One of the dialogues says whenever men cant use their tongue to answer a question, they use their hands(to beat up someone).
Sometimes it feels like its dragging on for too long. The biggest flaw is that is makes you feel very sad. The plight of the girls is sometimes unbearable to see. One of Hakim Sahab's children is an ennuch(neither a girl nor a boy). He is treated badly wherever he goes. Good thing I was one of the 7 people in the theatre, if the theatre was full, I would have drowned in tears..

Verdict: This is a very entertaining movie which deliveres a strong message that needs to be heard but it leaves you with a sad feeling. I would definitely watch it...
